Irish-based cement producer CRH is making large moves in the North American market. In September, CRH announced it is in the process of acquiring US-based cement producer Ash Grove Cement. The purchase, anticipated to be approximately $3.5 billion, will add 8 US cement production facilities to CRH’s growing portfolio of North American locations. Now, in addition to the Ash Grove facilities in the mid-west and western United States and the locations CRH already owns in Canada, comes news that CRH is purchasing assets in Florida. The announcement that CRH will purchase Suwanee American Cement extends the growth of CRH in North America and would make CRH the largest building materials supplier in Florida.
