Followers of this blog know that we tend to pay close attention to the environmental issues facing the cement industry. In the past two years, there has been some buzz in the industry about Solidia Technologies (R), a start-up company that offers a technology for sequestering CO2 emissions. The technology uses CO2 during the pre-casting of concrete, providing for a shorter curing time for the concrete. In recent news, Solidia and Linde have signed a partnership agreement to assist in industrializing the technology. Linde, as a large scale supplier of industrial gases, is expected to provide expertise in the supply and delivery for CO2, as well as engineering experience in CO2 handling equipment. This is expected to assist in developing the market and supply of the pre-cast material from Solidia.
