Local Cement History Near Washington, D.C.

As a follow-up to a two previous posts  about the cement mill at Shepherdstown, this past week saw some additional news about the cement mill property.

A ceremony was held April 5th to dedicate a commemorative marker to the purchase and preservation of the mill site by the Civil War Trust.  The site of a Civil War battle in 1862, the site is a short distance from the Essroc plant in Martinsburg, the subject of this year’s IEEE conference plant tour.

BGE has a limited number of openings for guided museum tours during the week of the conference – history buffs attending the conference are encouraged to speak with BGE attendees to discuss this opportunity….
