Holcim inks deal to upgrade Hagerstown plant

For some time now, it has been reported that Holcim was going to be required to spend some capital at their Hagerstwon, Maryland facility.  Several recent articles in the press have announced the long-circulated rumor in the industry that Holcim is indeed proceeding with an upgrade at their Hagerstown, Maryland plant.  The plant is proceeding with a modification to their existing 6-support kiln to reduce the kiln length and add a 5-stage preheater system.  KHD has announced that they will be supplying the equipment and engineering to bring teh plant to a capacity of 2400 TPD.  Included in the project are technologies to reduce NOx and SOx emissions.
